Name: Yanmei Shuchun
NOTE: Yanmei is Chinese for Flettering or Seductive, the latter of the two is the meaning for her name.
Shuchun is Chinese for Pure Beauty

Alias: Meifeng Ai
NOTE: Her Alias isn't usually used unless in certain situations. She typically will go by Yanmei.
Meifeng is Chinese for Beautiful Wind.
Ai is Chinese for Loving, and is Japanese for Love.

Goal: To become the captain of her ship, Zhu Yue.

NOTE: The gunner's duties included taking charge of all the ship's cannon, ensuring they were properly maintained and that the crews were trained in their use. He/She was responsible for ensuring all the gun ports were closed in bad weather and for making sure all guns were secured. In battle the gunner would often be near the helm, advising the helmsman on how to steer so as to be able to aim the ship's artillery better.

Biography: Born in Macau, a town near Hong Kong, she was put up for adoption by her parents for unknown reasons. She was adopted by Lei Delun and Chen Delun, a middle-aged couple who were desperate for a child (but Chen was unable to give birth anymore). Sadly, Lei and Chen were very poor and could not afford to give Yanmei any sort of education, but they still loved her nonetheless. When Yanmei was 13, Lei died during a horrible typhoon when he was away on business (Lei worked in the bartering industry). Because Lei died, Chen had no income to support the household any longer, and was too old to be working. To help Chen, Yanmei got a job at a local pub, as a waitress. She didn't like having to serve a bunch of drunken idiots, but she had no other choice.

One night, the bar was especially busy, and was frantically trying to serve the drinks and take orders simultaneously, when suddenly she felt a cloth cover hers eyes and a hand cover her mouth, and she was taken away in the darkness of night. When she awoke, she was sitting in an almost empty room, the walls and floors made of wood. She smelled the repugnant smell of sea and salt, and treid to get up to investigate, but her hands were tied behind her back. Confused, she waited for somebody to enter the room, and soon enough, a tal, burly man with a scraggly beard walked in. He introduced himself as her Uncle, Captain Guang of the Zhu Yue ship. Confused, she questioned why he felt it necessary to kidnap, to which he replied it was 'His first instict' to do so, because he has been at sea so long as a pirate. Yanmei immediately refused, but realized she had no choice, because the ship had alreayd left port and was out at sea.

Seeing her options, she warily gave in. At firts, she was put to work as the cook when she explained all she could do was cook and clean. Over the course of six months she befriended the gunner, Hikaru, a young japanese man who joined the ship after he ran away from home. Interested by Hikaru's vast knowledge of firearms, he taught her more about his job on the ship. She enjoyed learning from him, and soon fell in love. Though one day, after she had been on the ship for near 7 months, a rough storm hit. Everybody rushed into their safe cabins, but not Hikaru. When Yanmei saw Hikaru running towards the deck, she questioned him, apalled he was runnign out into the storm. Hikaru yelled back that he still had to close the hatches to protect the cannons from damage. Worried but knowing she couldn't stop him, Yanmei returned to her cabin and waited, insomniatic.

The next morning, Yanmei jumpe dout of bed long before dawn, the sea calm once again, and ran to the deck, calling out for Hikaru. At breakfast, she finally asked one of the sailors where Hikaru was. She was told that in trying to close the hatches, he was flung overboard by the winds and waves, and was unable to be resuced. Shocked and angry, she suddnely burst into a fit of rage, and broke everything within a twenty foot radius of her. After her freak-attack, she ran abck to her cabin and cried, something that she was otld pirates should never do. Burning with anger she stayed in her cabin for several days without eating or talking, until four days after, she calmly waked out of her cabin. Everybody stared, but she pretended not to notice. She walked up to her uncle and spontaneously requested to eb the enw gunner. Ever since, she has been working in memory of Hikaru, carrying on his work.
